The Ice House Museum at Hotel Del

Recently L+L Printers had the pleasure of working with Gina Petrone, Heritage Manager at Hotel del Coronado, producing and installing graphics for their new Ice House Museum.

Built in 1889, the masonry structure once served as the ice-making center for the entire island. The renovated building now hosts the Ice House Museum, serving as the hotel’s history gallery with permanent exhibits and rotating displays revealing The Del’s fascinating past.

Visitors will discover the behind-the-scenes history of The Del, along with its world-famous dining, recreation, and legendary guests. The museum features artifacts, memorabilia, and even a Marilyn Monroe selfie spot!

L+L’s large format printing division utilized a wide range of materials, printing on both our HP Latex and EFI Vutek UV printers. The “Legendary Guests” photos were printed on Nano Gloss Photo Paper, while the movable walls were printed on 3M IJ35C adhesive-backed vinyl. The historical photos displayed were printed on 3mm PVC and mounted to the wall using French Cleats of different thicknesses, creating depth and visual interest. The Marilyn Monroe selfie spot is printed on 6mm PVC, and the “Museum” sign on the entrance window was digitally die-cut on etched adhesive-backed vinyl.

L+L loves being part of creating exciting visual spaces with our customers. What can we do for you?
